Navi Mumbai: When the month of Chaitra-Vaisakh begins in Koli-Agri society Excitement at the wedding The real begins. A beautiful amalgamation of joy, affection and traditional customs, these weddings testify to the cultural splendor of the society. From Sakharpudya to Haldi, Varmai and Varati, every ritual has a special traditional color. With the passage of time, new trends have been added to these celebrations, but along with these changes, the sense of time is being lost to some extent.
In Indian culture ‘Muhurta’ is considered very important for any auspicious work. Special care is taken in deciding the day and time of marriage. But in recent times more time is spent on mehndi, pre-wedding photoshoots, bridal makeup, various outfits and capturing special moments for social media. As a result, the 5.30 pm muhurat is often pushed to 7-8 pm.
Megablock canceled on Sunday due to NEET exam! Saturday-Sunday midnight special block on Central and Western Railways; Impact on local services
This disrupts the entire wedding schedule. After the wedding, again for the reception, hours are spent for different preparations, photo sessions. Guests get tired of waiting and often leave. Finally the groom leaves after midnight or early morning. In some places, there have been instances of the groom arriving between 4 am and 6 am.
According to earlier tradition, the bridegroom should come home before midnight as the “daughter-in-law is considered as the Lakshmi of the house”. This practice was based on the belief that Lakshmi arrives at the evening sumuhurta. But in today’s changing lifestyle, this feeling seems to be receding.
Along with this, an important social issue also comes to the fore. Residents, elderly people, patients and students of the area have to suffer because of the varatis that go off in the middle of the night or early in the morning. It is equally important to think about the comfort of others while celebrating happiness.
Changing this picture does not require much effort. With a little planning, a sense of timing and proper respect for tradition, weddings can become more beautiful, disciplined and enjoyable for all.
It is a true tradition to be aware of the community while celebrating. It is equally important to preserve the values of our culture while adopting new things with the changing times. If everyone looks at it in a positive light, keeping in mind the welfare of the society, this festival of joy will truly be a joy to everyone…!
