New Delhi: Bengaluru is expected to witness light pre-monsoon showers on Sunday. This would mean that residents can expect pleasant weather on the day. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to be around 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be 24 degrees Celsius, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city is also expected to see a cloudy day.
On May 2, the city saw scattered rainfall, with the Bengaluru City weather Observatory recording 1 centimetre of rain. This means that the Bengaluru Urban region recorded 1 cm of rain on the day. There was no large change in overall temperature in the entire state of Karnataka on the day. The maximum temperature in the state was in the normal range on Saturday.
The weather department has predicted minuscule change in weather and temperatures for Bengaluru on Monday. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius on the day, while the minimum will be around 22 degrees Celsius. Rains are also expected to continue.
In fact all through the week, the city is expected to see a similar weather pattern. The maximum temperatures would hover around 32 to 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum will be around 22 degrees Celsius on most days. Light to moderate rains are expected in the city till Tuesday, May 5. Post that rains would stop and partly cloudy skies will be witnessed in the city till Friday at least, said the scientists at the IMD.
As of Sunday, 46.5% humidity was recorded in the city, while moderate winds going up to a speed of 15.7 km/hr are expected through the day. This is likely to have an impact on the temperature. The sunrise in the city happened at 5:59 am on Sunday and sunset is expected at around 6:35 pm.
Meanwhile on May 3, light rains are also expected in other parts of Karnataka. One or 2 places in Kalburgi, Yadgir and Raichur district will receive light rains. The weather in other districts of the state is expected to remain dry, said the IMD forecast.
In South Interior Karnataka, light to moderate rains, thunderstorms with gusty winds of 30-40 km/hr is likely to occur at one or 2 places over Tumakuru, Chikkaballapura, Kolar, Bengaluru (Rural), Bengaluru (Urban), Chamarajanagara, Ramanagara, Mandya, Mysuru, Kodagu, Hassan and Chikkamagaluru districts.
