Jet2 'major' change from May 2027 with UK airports affectedNewspoint | May 9 2026 07:42:00 IST
Jet2 has announced a major expansion with flights to the Greek island of Thassos starting summer 2027.
The airline will operate services from Birmingham, Manchester and London Stansted to Kavala International Airport. Birmingham will offer weekly Wednesday departures from May 12 to September 29 2027, whilst Manchester provides twice-weekly Tuesday and Friday services.
Thassos has been described by local authorities as one of Greece's "best kept secrets", celebrated for its stunning beaches and family-friendly charm. The partnership with the Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace aims to boost tourism to the destination.
Jacob Bramley, General Manager at Jet2, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace to promote the stunning island of Thassos, which is our newest destination." Holiday packages will include ATOL protection, return transfers, 22kg luggage allowance and a £60 per person deposit.
The move makes Jet2 the British airline serving the most Greek airports with 16 destinations across the country. The announcement comes as demand for Greek holidays remains strong amongst British travellers, with Greece continuing to feature prominently as a top destination for UK tourists.
The new route demonstrates how airlines are expanding beyond conventional resort hotspots to offer greater choice for summer getaways.
