Jaipur, 9 May. Taking the issue of death and deteriorating health of mothers after cesarean operation in the New Medical College Hospital, Kota very seriously, the state government has taken prompt and strict administrative action. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has given instructions to conduct a fair and prompt investigation in the matter and take strict action. Also, Medical Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar is continuously monitoring the entire matter. He has given instructions to provide the best treatment to the pregnant women undergoing treatment.


On the instructions of the Medical Minister, Medical Education Commissioner Babulal Goyal reached Kota on Friday and reviewed the incident in detail. Took information from the concerned doctors, nursing personnel and hospital administration and took stock of the treatment arrangements. Late on Friday night, the state government suspended two nursing workers including a doctor who was prima facie found guilty. Also, a doctor working at UTB was dismissed from service. Along with this, show cause notice has been issued to two doctors.


Principal Secretary of Medical Education Department, Gayatri Rathore said that in the preliminary investigation of the case, prima facie serious negligence in medical protocol and procedure was revealed, the department took immediate action and suspended Associate Professor, General Surgery Department, Dr. Navneet Kumar. Also, Assistant Professor Dr. Shraddha Upadhyay working at UTB has been dismissed. Action has also been taken against the nursing officers on duty in the case. Senior nursing officers Gurjaut Kaur and Nimesh Verma have also been suspended with immediate effect for negligence in work, lack of compliance with prescribed medical protocols and laxity in monitoring patients, and their headquarters have been shifted to Jaipur.


Show cause notice has been issued to Dr. BL Patidar, Unit Head of Gynecology and Obstetrics Department and Dr. Neha Sihra, Unit Head. In the notice, clarification has been sought regarding possible negligence in supervisory responsibility, monitoring of treatment process, post-operation monitoring and coordination arrangements and deficiencies in medical arrangements in relation to the serious incident that took place in the hospital. The Chief Government Secretary said that while continuously reviewing the health condition of all the mothers admitted in the hospital, he instructed the doctors to provide the best treatment to each patient under expert medical supervision. He said that the safety of patients is the top priority of the state government, any kind of negligence in this will not be tolerated.


Rathore said that the hospital administration was directed to take immediate corrective steps by comprehensively reviewing the operation theater management, anesthesia protocol, medicine delivery system and post-operative monitoring system. Along with this, instructions have also been given to fix accountability, strengthen the supervision system and make the medical quality control system more effective to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future. The state government has ordered a detailed investigation into the entire matter. After receiving the report, strict disciplinary action will be taken against all officers, doctors or personnel found guilty.
