Ullal: A large quantity of fish oil spilled onto the road from a container transporting fish meal oil from Kotekar, causing several two-wheeler and autorickshaw riders to skid and suffer injuries in Ullal.

According to reports, the container was carrying fish meal oil from Kotekar to Mangaluru port when the oil reportedly leaked due to a technical fault in the vehicle.

The spill spread from Ullal Abbakka Circle to Ullal Byl, making the road slippery and dangerous for commuters. Several two-wheeler riders and autorickshaw drivers reportedly lost control and fell on the road.

Angered by the incident, local residents stopped the container at Ullal Byl and staged a protest. As oil worth lakhs of rupees leaked from the vehicle, the remaining oil was later shifted to another container.

Following the incident, traffic on the one-way stretch between Ullal Abbakka Circle and Ullal Byl was temporarily suspended.

Assembly Speaker UT Khader directed the Police Commissioner to take strict action against the container owner and the fish meal company involved in the incident. He also instructed authorities to ensure strict precautionary measures to prevent such incidents in future.
