YouTube AI Likeness Detection System: YouTube has taken a new step to curb deepfake videos. The company's AI Likeness Detection System is now being launched for all creators aged 18 and older.
YouTube AI Likeness Detection System: AI-generated videos have become a major problem on social media platforms and sites like YouTube. It has become increasingly difficult to distinguish between authentic videos and fake ones. With the help of AI, deepfake videos—which superimpose other people's faces onto existing footage—are now being created. YouTube is preparing to take strict action regarding this growing issue. The company has now made its AI Likeness Detection System available to a wider range of creators. This tool will enable creators to track and report deepfake videos featuring their likeness. Let's take a look at the changes this initiative will bring about.
Why Is This Change Being Implemented?
This feature already existed on YouTube, but its access was previously limited. The company is now rolling it out to all creators aged 18 and above. Over the next few weeks, it will become available to all eligible creators. With the help of this feature within YouTube Studio, creators will be able to determine if any synthetic or edited videos featuring their face have been posted on the platform. If the system detects a deepfake video containing a creator's face, the creator can review it and request its removal.
Deepfake Videos Can Spell Trouble for Creators
Deepfake videos no longer merely utilize a person's face; nowadays, they also mimic facial expressions, voices, and even specific speech patterns. This poses an increasingly dangerous threat to creators. The reputation and identity they have built over years of hard work can be severely damaged in a matter of moments through deepfake videos.
How to Activate the System?
Once this feature becomes available, it can be set up via YouTube Studio. To do this, first open YouTube Studio. Next, navigate to 'Content Detection,' select 'Likeness,' and set it to 'Start Now.' YouTube will then request certain permissions. After granting these permissions, you will need to complete a one-time identity verification process. Once the setup is complete, YouTube will begin scanning its platform for videos in which your face appears. If any such content is detected, you can review it and request its removal.
