Noida: A massive fire broke out at an automobile spare parts manufacturing unit in Sector 59 of Noida on Friday evening, triggering panic among residents and workers in nearby areas. The factory, identified as Minda, is located opposite a residential society near Jubilant Biosys.
According to local sources, the fire reportedly started around 4 pm and continued to rage for several hours despite firefighting efforts. Thick black smoke spread across the locality, making it difficult for residents to breathe.
People living near the industrial area said the air was filled with a strong plastic-like smell as flames engulfed parts of the factory premises. Several residents expressed concern over the toxic smoke and worsening air quality in the area.
Eyewitnesses claimed the blaze was still not fully under control till evening. Videos from the spot showed massive flames and dense smoke rising from the industrial complex.
At least four fire engines were rushed to the spot to contain the fire. Firefighters continued operations late into the evening as they battled the intense blaze.
Sources at the scene alleged that both factory units in the area were facing water shortage issues, making firefighting operations more challenging. However, officials are yet to confirm the exact reason behind the delay in controlling the fire.
No casualties or injuries had been officially reported till the latest updates. Authorities are expected to launch an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of damage caused to the industrial units.
The incident caused concern among nearby residents as smoke continued to spread across parts of Sector 62 and adjoining localities.
