Young Spanish national team star Lamine Yamal has expressed his strong determination to deliver his best performance for La Furia Roja at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 18-year-old player even compared his top form on the pitch to feeling like a superhero.

Yamal is currently recognised as one of the most promising talents in world football.

Despite his young age, he has already collected several prestigious trophies with both Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

At club level, the La Masia graduate has claimed six titles with Barcelona, including helping the Blaugrana win the 2025/2026 La Liga championship.

Meanwhile, with the Spanish national team, Yamal played a crucial role in the squad that won Euro 2024, scoring six goals in 25 appearances.

Feeling Like a Superhero at His Peak

In an interview published on FIFA’s official website, Lamine Yamal described the feeling when he reaches his peak performance.

“I always say it feels like being a superhero. Everything goes perfectly,” said Yamal.

“I feel faster, stronger, full of adrenaline. It feels like nothing can stop me. I want to reach that level when playing at the World Cup,” he added.

According to Yamal, happiness and comfort on the field play a major role in his game.

As a player who relies heavily on creativity and dribbling, he believes his performance drops when he doesn’t enjoy the match.

“I depend a lot on creativity. When I’m not enjoying myself, my game suffers. Everything feels flat and less inspiring,” he explained.

“But when I’m happy, like during the Euro, everything flows naturally. I feel freer, and the game becomes more alive,” he continued.

Still Recovering from Injury

Despite his high ambitions, Lamine Yamal is currently battling a hamstring injury.

He is at risk of missing Spain’s opening Group H match at the 2026 World Cup against Cape Verde, which will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on 15 June 2026.

Nevertheless, Yamal remains optimistic that he can recover in time and contribute fully to help Spain claim their first World Cup title since 2010.

Former PSPS Striker Backs Spain to Win

Former PSPS Pekanbaru player Muhammad Isnaini has tipped Spain to win the 2026 World Cup.

He predicted that Spain and the Netherlands would meet in the 2026 World Cup final, with La Furia Roja emerging as champions.

Isnaini, who currently serves as the Director of Competitions for PSSI Riau, believes it is time for Spain to lift the trophy again in this four-year tournament.

“Spain has young players who have been toughened through a very competitive league. Most of them play in La Liga,” said Muhammad Isnaini, as quoted by Tribun Pekanbaru.

The former PSPS Pekanbaru striker also believes that Spain’s young talents, such as Yamal, will shine at the 2026 World Cup.

“With their young talents and the tactical brilliance of Spain coach Luis de la Fuente, Spain will emerge as a strong team capable of winning the World Cup,” Isnaini concluded.
