New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has once again come into controversy due to his statements. This time his target was Italy’s Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. Meloni was so angered by Trump’s claim regarding a photo during the G7 summit that she responded publicly and called it shameful.

What did Trump finally say?   

The G7 summit was held in the city of Evian, France from 15 to 17 June. After this, Trump gave a phone interview to an Italian media outlet and said that Meloni was begging to be photographed with him. Trump said that she was following him and wanted the photo at any cost.

He also said jokingly that there was no need for me to talk to him, but when I felt pity, I said yes. As soon as Trump made this statement, a debate broke out on social media.

Meloni gave a befitting reply   

Meloni did not remain silent on this statement of Trump. He issued a video message saying that Trump’s claim is completely false and fabricated. Meloni said that she is shocked by this action and cannot understand why the President of America behaves like this with his close associates.

Meloni further said that Trump leaves no stone unturned to humiliate his friends, but goes soft in front of real enemies and dictators. He made it clear that Italy and he himself never beg in front of anyone.

Italy canceled America trip   

After Meloni’s statement, the matter was not limited to politicians only. In Italy, the resentment over Trump’s statement grew so much that the government took a big step. Deputy PM Antonio Taiani immediately canceled his visit to the US scheduled for June 21 and 22. Italy believes that Trump’s statement is an insult not only to Meloni, but to the entire country. This decision has soured the relations between the two countries.

Meloni raised the question why Trump’s attitude is different when it comes to friendship and trust with Western countries. He said that such statements weaken the alliance.
