New Delhi. The government has taken a big decision for the construction workers of Delhi and their families. Delhi Government has approved ‘Delhi Building and Construction Workers Health Scheme’ to provide better health facilities to registered construction workers.
Under this scheme, workers and their families will get relief from the worry of treatment expenses. This scheme was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The government’s aim is to provide timely better medical facilities to the economically weaker labor families.
The family will get health cover up to Rs 10 lakh
About 2.7 lakh registered construction workers and their families of Delhi will benefit from this scheme. Under this, the family will be given cashless treatment cover up to a maximum of Rs 10 lakh in a year. The scheme will provide health care benefits to the workers as well as their spouses, children and parents. The government will spend approximately Rs 200 crore every year on the operation of this scheme.
Facility up to Rs 2 lakh for individual treatment for workers
According to the scheme, each registered worker will get treatment facility up to Rs 2 lakh in the empaneled hospitals. The total limit of treatment for all the family members has been kept at Rs 10 lakh. The most important thing is that the process of payment for treatment will be cashless, which will make it easier for the workers to get immediate treatment in the hospital.
Will be protected from diseases occurring during work
Workers working in the construction sector are often exposed to dust, chemicals, loud noises and heavy machines. This often increases the risk of respiratory diseases, silicosis and skin problems. The government says that this scheme is a big step towards protecting workers from such health challenges and giving them better medical security.
Health facilities will reach construction sites
The government is planning to deploy mobile medical units at construction sites and areas with high numbers of workers. With this, workers will be able to get primary health services near them. To make the scheme transparent, a modern system will also be created for digital health records and monitoring of beneficiaries.
Many types of health services will be available
Not only treatment but many health facilities are included in this scheme. The beneficiaries will also get OPD, inpatient treatment, investigation and lab tests, emergency medical aid and referral facility if needed. Apart from this, health checkup facility will also be provided once a year for the workers and their spouses.
