Apart from this, under the new rules, along with increasing the fees for normal and tatkal passports, provision for special exemption has also been made. Let us tell you that in the amended rules, there is also a rule to give special discount of 10% to people of special category. However, this exemption will be available only on new passport applications and will not be available on renewal or re-issue.
Under the new rules, there will be a 10 percent discount in fees for making passports for children up to 8 years of age and for making new passports for senior citizens i.e. senior citizens above 60 years of age. Let us tell you that this discount will be available only on making a new passport. There will be no exemption in fees for renewal or re-issue of both passports. This rule will also come into effect from July 1st.
According to the information, the Central Government has increased the passport fees to meet the rising administrative costs and modernization of services, according to which now for getting a 36 page normal passport (new/re-issue), now Rs 2500 will have to be paid instead of Rs 1500. Let us tell you that now for Tatkal passport you will have to pay Rs 5000 instead of Rs 3500. Along with this, for re-issue of 36 page passport in case of loss or damage, now the fee will be Rs 3500 instead of Rs 1500. Whereas for such Tatkal passport, the fee will be Rs 7500 instead of Rs 3500.
Let us tell you that if a 36 page passport is to be made for children below 18 years of age, now the fee will be Rs 1750 instead of Rs 1000. Whereas for Tatkal passport, the fee will be Rs 4250 instead of Rs 3000. Apart from this, for re-issue of passport in case of loss or damage, now a fee of Rs 4250 will be charged instead of Rs 1000. For such Tatkal passport, instead of Rs 3000, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 6750.
