The Spanish men's national football team took a moment to celebrate the birthdays of young talents Lamine Yamal and Victor Munoz as they gear up for their FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinal against France.

A video shared on the official X account of the team captured the festive atmosphere, featuring the players enjoying a specially crafted cake. The caption expressed their determination: "We want to be here until the 19th," highlighting their goal to reach the final.

Yamal's Confidence Before the Match

As the team prepares for the crucial match against France, Yamal expressed confidence, stating that they are unafraid of facing one of the tournament's top contenders.

In an interview with TV Espana, Yamal reflected on Spain's past victories over France, asserting, "If anyone should be afraid, it should be them -- we knocked them out of the Euros. We are two great teams, among the best in the world. We'll see what happens, but we have no fear."

Path to the Semifinals

Yamal's remarks followed Spain's hard-fought 2-1 victory over Belgium in the quarter-finals. The match saw Fabian Ruiz score first after capitalizing on a rebound, only for Belgium's Charles De Ketelaere to equalize just before halftime.

Spain's goalkeeper Unai Simon set a new record by going 560 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal in World Cup play, surpassing Walter Zenga's previous record. Belgium faced a setback when their goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was injured, leading to substitute Mikel Merino scoring the decisive goal. Yamal was named Player of the Match, and this win extended Spain's unbeaten streak to 36 matches, tying them with Argentina's record from 2019 to 2022 and leaving them just one match shy of Italy's world-record 37-game unbeaten streak.
