Hartalika Teej Bhog Recipe: The festival of Hartalika Teej is celebrated with the worship of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, as well as with joy and devotion. On this special day, many homes follow the tradition of offering traditional sweets after the puja.
If you’re looking to prepare your own prasad this time, homemade gujiyas and malpuas are a great option. These sweets will not only add sweetness to your puja thali but will also enhance the festivities.
Why do homemade sweets have special significance on Hartalika Teej?
On Hartalika Teej, after worshipping Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the tradition of offering prasad is observed. Many people prefer to prepare prasad at home instead of buying sweets from the market. Handmade gujiyas and malpuas are not only delicious but also add to the beauty of the puja thali.
What is needed to make Gujiya?
To make gujiyas, combine flour, ghee, mawa (khoya), powdered sugar, cashews, almonds, raisins, and cardamom powder. Keep ghee or oil for frying. If desired, you can add other dry fruits of your choice.
How to make Gujiya at home

First, mix ghee with flour and knead into a stiff dough. Cover and let it rest for 20 to 25 minutes. Now, lightly toast the mawa, cool it, and add powdered sugar, chopped nuts, and cardamom powder.
After this, roll out small balls of dough, fill them with the prepared mixture, and seal the edges tightly. Fry the gujiyas over low or medium heat until golden brown. Once cooled, include them in the prasad.
Ingredients required to make Malpua

For the malpua, combine flour, semolina, milk, sugar, fennel seeds, cardamom powder, and ghee or oil. If you want to make it a little more flavorful, you can also add a little mawa.
How to prepare Malpua at home

Mix flour, semolina, and milk to form a thick batter. Add fennel seeds and cardamom and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, make a syrup from sugar and water.
Now pour a little of the batter into the hot ghee and fry until golden brown on both sides. Dip the prepared malpua in the sugar syrup for a few seconds and remove it. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top and offer it to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Keep these things in mind when preparing prasad:
Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen and utensils while preparing the prasad. Always use fresh and quality ingredients. Once the prasad is ready, offer it to God first and then distribute it among the family members.
If you’re planning to make prasad at home for this Hartalika Teej puja, Gujiya and Malpua are both great options. These traditional sweets will make your puja thali even more special, while also adding to the flavor and joy of the festival.
