Lifestyle Desk – While the rainy season provides relief from the heat, it also increases many small problems in everyday life. These also include clothes and especially socks remaining wet for a long time. When shoes get wet in the rain or feet fall in water, the socks become completely moist. If they are left wet for a long time, they start smelling and when worn again, the feet may feel damp and uncomfortable. If it is raining outside and drying the socks in the sun is not an option, then they can be dried relatively quickly with the help of things available in the house. However, it is also important to avoid giving too much heat while drying the socks. Let us know about it in detail.
Instead of trying to dry wet socks directly, first remove excess water from them. For this, take a clean and dry towel and place the socks between it. Now press the towel well with the socks. This will allow much of the moisture in the socks to move into the towel and reduce the time required to dry them. Avoid wringing the socks too forcefully, especially if they are made of delicate fabric. This may spoil their shape.

Fan is one of the easiest options to dry socks during rainy season. After removing excess water, separate the socks and hang them in a place where there is good air flow. Placing it in front of a fan can help moisture evaporate faster. Instead of placing the socks on top of each other or too close together, keep them spread out, so that as much surface as possible remains in contact with the air.
If socks need to be worn immediately, a hair dryer may also be helpful. However, one should avoid using it at very hot temperatures. Spread the socks and keep the hair dryer at some distance and keep moving it here and there instead of continuously blowing hot air at one place. Too hot air can damage the fibers of some clothes or cause socks to become out of shape.
The paper can help absorb moisture. Lightly stuff clean and dry newspaper or plain paper inside the wet socks. After some time, when the paper becomes wet, remove it and insert new dry paper. This method can be especially useful if the inside of the socks is very wet.
It is not right to leave wet socks in a bag, shoes or a closed clothes basket. In a place with humidity and less air, the problem of microorganisms causing odor can increase. Therefore, first dry them thoroughly and if necessary, let them dry completely after washing.
The easiest way to dry socks quickly during the rainy season is to first remove excess water with a towel, then spread them out in front of the wind or a fan to dry them. A hair dryer can be used at low temperature if needed. Also, it is important to keep feet and socks dry, as prolonged exposure to moisture can increase the risk of problems like skin irritation or fungal infections.
