Cricket Update: India's rising fast bowler Harshit Rana has been officially ruled out of the T20I series against Afghanistan and the Asian Games. In his place, Yash Thakur has been included in India's T20I squad for the upcoming T20I series and Asian Games. BCCI has confirmed this by issuing a statement on Thursday.

The BCCI has issued a statement saying that the men's selection committee has selected Yash Thakur in place of Harshit Rana in India's squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and the 2026 Asian Games. The fast bowler was making good progress during his rehab at the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE). On 7 September, he suffered a rectus femoris strain while bowling during a match simulation and was subsequently ruled out of the team.

27-year-old fast bowler Yash from Vidarbha recently made his T20I debut during India's tour of Zimbabwe in July. He played two matches and took four wickets. He has played 50 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches and has taken 81 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 7.04.
