A maths which is supposed to be 'easy' has split the internet - and no one can agree on the right answer.

The posted onto social media states: "I have 6 eggs. I broke 2, I fried 2, I ate 2. How many eggs do I have left? 99% get it wrong." The challenge was first posted on ’s Threads and has racked up hundreds of comments from people racking their brains in attempt at solving it. The answers ranged from zero to six, with many unable to decide on the correct answer.


One user declared: "I’m gonna be upsetting some people now. I’m going to say six, I know you say you broke two, cooked two and ate two, but you didn’t say that ‘of the six’ you broke two, cooked two, ate two, you already told us you have six, so am I to assume you had eight to begin with."


Another person agreed, adding: "I HAVE 6 eggs. not HAD. So answer is 6." However, not everyone agreed. And one user decided: "4 eggs left after preparing and eating 2 of the 6." Four seemed to be the most popular answer – but a few people decided the riddle meant that all the eggs had been accounted for, and therefore there were no eggs left.


The answers split those attempting the puzzle and some people were left scratching their heads trying to work out the answer. It left others making guesses which were not always accurate, while keen puzzlers seemed to be able to work out the puzzle easily.
