Electricity Bill Scam : Cyber security is an important issue for India as well as other countries. With the passage of time, people are taking advantage of the advancement of technology. On the other hand, scammers also try to cheat people using these technologies. One such incident has come to light, in which a person working in Noida had to face a scam regarding electricity bill payment.
Rahul Yadav, who works in Noida, told us how a scammer in the name of BSES Delhi (Rajdhani Power Limited) tried to digitally arrest him. Here we will tell you how you can avoid it.
Rahul told us that he first received a call from a man who claimed to be an electricity department employee. He told Rahul that even after making the payment, his bill has not been cleared and he needs to update it. After this, he sent a link to Rahul and asked him to clear it.
Rahul said that this link was with the original people and he did not have any doubt about it, so he clicked on the link. This is where he made a mistake. As soon as he clicked on this link, an app got downloaded in his device in the background.
After this, the scammer asked Rahul to make a payment so that his bill payment problem could be resolved. Here we are sharing some screenshots.
The scammer asked him which option he used for making the payment. Rahul told the scammer that he had made the payment through UPI. On this the scammer asked him to choose some other option. Since Rahul thought it was real and he had to pay only Rs 3, he agreed to it.
Rahul clicked on the credit card option and filled in his details, but the payment was declined by the bank. Meanwhile, the scammer started call forwarding on Rahul's phone. This alarmed Rahul and he immediately cancelled it. After some time, a message from the bank came, in which it was said that the payment has been cancelled due to security reasons. Rahul immediately blocked all his cards. By doing this, the scammers will not be able to access his cards.
