Who will benefit from TRAI's new rule?

TRAI New Rule: From December 1, Jio, Airtel, VI and BSNL will have to strictly follow the rules to track OTP and commercial messages.

TRAI New OTP Rule

TRAI OTP New Rule 1 December 2024: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided to implement traceability rules to prevent unwanted commercial messages and phishing attacks. Telecom companies were earlier given time till October 31 to implement these rules, which was extended to November 30. Now from December 1, Jio, Airtel, VI and BSNL will have to strictly follow the rules to track OTP and commercial messages. However, some companies are having problems implementing it, which may cause a slight delay in OTP messages. An attempt to protect you from fraud

With the increasing use of smartphones, cases of cyber crime, especially fraud through fake OTP, have increased. To deal with this problem, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has directed all telecom companies to implement a traceability system to track all commercial messages and OTP. The implementation of this system will reduce cases of fake OTP and fraud.

There may be a delay in getting OTP
TRAI had earlier planned to implement the traceability rule by October 31, but on the demand of Jio, Airtel, VI and BSNL, it was extended to November 30. Now this new rule will come into effect from December 1. Due to this, there may be a delay in getting OTP in the first few days, as telecom companies may take time to fully implement this new system.
