Ranchi: On the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, 11 out of 47 migrant workers from Jharkhand stranded in Cameroon returned safely. All the workers were transported to their destination by the Labor Department. The return of the remaining 36 workers is also being ensured.
The Chief Minister had received information about the salary payment of 47 workers from Hazaribagh, Bokaro and Giridih districts of Jharkhand working in M/s Transrail Lighting Limited of Cameroon, Central Africa and not being treated well by the company. After this, the Chief Minister directed the State Migrant Control Room to take immediate action. The State Migrant Control Room took prompt action and contacted the workers and the concerned company and verified the matter.
As per the instructions of Labor Secretary Mukesh Kumar and Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Besra, Labor Superintendents of the respective districts also lodged FIR against the employers/employers and middlemen and the process of bringing back the stranded workers safely was started.

The control room team has been continuously contacting the officials, company and workers through e-mail and phone and a total of Rs 39,77,743 dues have been paid to the workers. After this, on 27 December 2024, the first group of 11 workers out of 47 workers left for India from Cameroon and on 29 December 2024, all the workers reached Jharkhand safely. On reaching Jharkhand, Labor Department officials welcomed the workers at Birsa Munda Airport. .
