Ranchi: A meeting of the Jharkhand State Punishment Revision Board held at the Chief Minister's Residential Office at Kanke Road Ranchi on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. In the meeting, it was agreed to release 37 prisoners serving life sentence in various jails of the state. In the meeting, along with new cases to release, cases of prisoners were also reconsidered which were rejected in the previous meetings of the Jharkhand State Punishment Revision Board. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of Chief Minister Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary Home, Jail and Disaster Management Department Vandana Dadel, DGP Anurag Gupta, Jail Inspector General of Jharkhand Sudarshan Prasad Mandal, Additional Law Consultant Law Department Neeraj Kumar, Privation Officer Chandramouli, AIG Tushar Ranjan Gupta, Jailor Mo Nasim and other officials were present.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a point-wise consultation with the officials on the proposal to impose 103 prisoners who were serving life in various jails in the light of the recommendation of the state sentence revision board. The file of one prisoners recommended for release by the state sentence revision board was seriously considered. The Chief Minister took complete information about the crime of crime of prisoners and the courts given by the courts, police superintendents of the concerned districts, jail superintendents and probation officers. The Chief Minister gave his consent on the decision to release a total of 37 prisoners after consideration all the cases proposed for release between Chief Minister Hemant Soren and officials.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren instructed the officials to verify the social, economic and family background of the prisoners released. The Chief Minister directed the Inspector General of Kara Jharkhand to keep a track record of the prisoners released. Along with keeping track records of prisoners released by the Superintendent of Police and other officials of the districts, all the activities should be monitored continuously. The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure the release prisoners with the government -run welfare schemes. The Chief Minister said that the living of the prisoners released should go smoothly for them, arrange for income creation for them. It is the responsibility of all of us to give positive direction to the released prisoners with the mainstream.
