Delhi Delhi: Saudi Arabia's airline CEO Tony Douglas said on Wednesday that Riyadh Air, which is planning to start commercial flights this year, will find the possibility of partnership with Air India and IndiGo. He described the Indian subcontinent as a “extremely important” market. With an ambitious plan to connect Saudi Arabia with more than 100 destinations globally by 2030, Riyadh Air has partnered with various global airlines including Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines.


Douglas are leading a delegation in India to explore the possibility of a possible partnership, an important market for the airline. According to a release, during the journey from 12 to 14 March, the delegation will meet officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Air India and IndiGo. The delegation will also meet the officials of the Saudi Arabia Embassy. Saudi Arabia's second national airline Riyadh Air, which will be the second national airline of Saudi Arabia after Saudia, will have Wide-Body B787-9 Dreamliner and Naro-Body A321 Neo in the fleet. Apart from this, there will also be wide-bodies B777X or A350-1000.




In a selected media briefing in the national capital on Wednesday, Douglas said that the Indian subcontinent is “extremely important” and the airline will find the possibility of partnership with Air India and IndiGo.




He said, “Any relationship is two -way … we want to find now, (this) is the initial stage and if there is something that actually works for both sides, tangible …” he also stated that the number of Indian tourists in Saudi Arabia increased to 1.5 million last year and the second largest population after Saudi is the second largest Indian citizen in Saudi Arabia.
