Red Bull are seeking permission from to allow one of their brightest young talents to drive in .
made his F1 debut as a fresh-faced 17-year-old and has gone on to enjoy remarkable success with the team. And hope to recreate that with the latest bright young star coming through their driver development programme.
After Verstappen's rise, the rules were changed to prevent anyone under the age of 18 from qualifying for a superlicence, which is required to race in F1. However, they were slightly relaxed last year with the addition of a line allowing for special permission to be given to a 17-year-old driver if they have "recently and consistently demonstrated outstanding ability and maturity in single-seater formula car competition".
That allowed to be able to drive F1 cars for before his 18th birthday last August, ahead of his F1 debut this year. And Red Bull want to do the same with Arvid Lindblad.

has confirmed as much while speaking to Auto Motor und Sport. He told the German outlet: "We have Ayumu Iwasa as our reserve driver. Lindblad has the points for the superlicense. We also completed a 300km test with him in a Formula 1 car at Imola, so he could theoretically step in.
"But he doesn't turn 18 until September. That's why we're currently applying to the FIA for an exemption for the super license. Antonelli got it, too. We see no reason why the same shouldn't be true for Lindblad. Then we'd already have two drivers on the bench."
Lindblad, who is of Swedish and Indian heritage but was born in Surrey and races under the British flag, will compete in this year having finished fourth in his debut campaign. The standout results were back-to-back victories in both the sprint and feature races at Silverstone last July, his home race.
He spent some of his winter in New Zealand where , which helped him reach the threshold to qualify for a superlicence. And now Red Bull want to make the most of it, with Marko admitting Lindblad will get much more F1 preparation than Isack Hadjar, who will drive for Racing Bulls this season, received.
The Austrian added: "Clearly, [Hadjar] is a fast man, but he hasn't driven much in Formula 1 cars. No comparison to [Jack] Doohan, [Oliver] Bearman or Antonelli. They've certainly driven ten times more Formula 1 cars than Hadjar. That's why we're rethinking things.
"We have to pay Honda for extra miles - that's why we were severely restricted in the TPC tests. But we're pushing ahead with that now. Our Arvid Lindblad will be racing with significantly more Formula 1 kilometers than Hadjar."
