Holi is one of the most beautiful festivals in India but it is necessary to maintain peace during this time as this year’s festivities will collide with the Friday Ramzan prayers. To maintain law and order, the Uttar Pradesh Police have issued strict guidelines which are aimed at preserving the traditional celebration of Holi.
Let’s have a look:
Goal: The main goal of the police guidelines is to preserve the traditional way of celebrating Holi without introducing new customs that could spark controversies or alter the festive atmosphere. The police have instructed that all celebrations must follow established traditions. By sticking to familiar customs, they aim to minimize the risk of new practices that might lead to misunderstandings or violence.
In addition, the police have conducted a thorough review of past Holi-related disputes to understand where tensions arose and have put measures in place to prevent such issues from resurfacing this year.
Social Media and Digital Surveillance: Given the major influence of social media, the Uttar Pradesh Police are also focusing on monitoring online platforms. Inspector General Rakesh Singh has stressed the importance of improving social media management skills among media personnel. This initiative aims to curb the spread of fake news, rumors, and inflammatory content that could disrupt communal harmony.
To further strengthen their efforts, the police are enhancing the role of Digital Volunteer Groups in every district, which will be responsible for monitoring online activities and responding quickly to any threats. Every police station is required to have at least two officers proficient in social media surveillance to ensure timely intervention.
Added security in Sambhal District: Particular attention is being paid to Sambhal district, where 16 fairs are planned. To ensure the safety of participants, authorities have deployed 27 quick response teams to manage emergencies. The district has been divided into zones and sectors to optimize security arrangements, with increased police personnel and CCTV cameras monitoring the area. These measures are designed to provide a safe and secure environment for the public to celebrate without concerns.
The Uttar Pradesh Police are working diligently to ensure that Holi 2025 is celebrated peacefully. With enhanced security, social media monitoring, and public awareness initiatives, they are committed to maintaining order while allowing people to enjoy the festival responsibly, keeping in mind the sentiments of all communities.
