Green Tea Disadvantage: Green tea is considered an effective tonic for health. According to Ayurveda, drinking green tea improves digestion, keeps the mind calm and removes toxic elements from the body. But if you consume green tea in the wrong way then it can be harmful for the stomach.

Science believes that the powerful antioxidants called catechins present in green tea provide many types of protection to the body. For this reason people are making it a part of their daily routine. But a little carelessness reduces the benefits of this healthy drink. Many times people drink green tea in such a way that instead of getting benefits, it starts harming the body. Therefore, it is very important to know the correct way of consuming it. So that one can get full benefit from it and there is no adverse effect on health.

drinking hot green tea

Often people make the mistake of drinking very hot green tea. Ayurveda says that excessively hot beverages increase the acid pitta, i.e. can cause severe burning sensation and heaviness in the stomach. Science also believes that very hot liquids can damage the lining of the throat, causing a feeling of swelling or soreness.

Drinking green tea on an empty stomach is also wrong. According to Ayurveda, astringent drinks should not be taken on an empty stomach, as it unbalances both Vata and Pitta. According to science, the caffeine present in green tea can increase acid levels in the stomach, which can cause gas or mild cramps. When there is no food in the stomach, this acid directly irritates the digestive system. Therefore, it is always better to take green tea after eating a light breakfast or some biscuits so that the stomach remains balanced.

It is wrong to drink green tea like this

To enhance the taste, sugar or milk is added to it, but this is also not considered good for health. It is said in Ayurveda that green tea is light and cooling in nature, whereas sugar is heavy and heating. The combination of both slows down digestion. On the other hand, adding milk allows the tea’s antioxidants to bind with the proteins. Due to which the body is not able to absorb them completely. Only green tea made without any adulteration is completely beneficial for the body.

Disadvantages of too much caffeine

There is also a belief among people that drinking several cups of green tea a day will result in quick weight loss or will detoxify the body excessively. This is completely wrong. In Ayurveda, excessive consumption of anything is considered to cause increase in doshas. At the same time, scientific studies have found that excess caffeine can cause restlessness, diarrhea or stomach pain in the body. Consuming too much green tea can also reduce the ability to absorb iron. Due to which you may feel weakness. Therefore, only two or three cups a day are enough so that the body can get the benefits in a balanced manner.
