Actor Timothy Spall , who played the infamous Peter Pettigrew in the ‘ Harry Potter ’ franchise, recently talked about his stint in the hit films. From how it was to be on set, to recalling what moment was his favourite, the actor delved deep into his role.
Timothy Spall spills the beans on his favourite scene from the ‘Harry Potter’ filmsIn an interview with People, the actor shared more about his work alongside the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. While attending the ‘Goodbye June’ premiere in New York City recently, the star shared that he felt that his character, Peter, was simply a weak person who was trying to survive what life threw at him.
The 68-year-old added, “I mean, he doesn't ultimately, does he? But he's up there with the best, cooking Lord Voldemort in a pot of stew and carrying it around like a hot, vile little baby was one of my favorite moments in any film.” He specifically referred to the scene from ‘ Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire ,’ where Voldemort kidnaps Harry from the games, and Pettigrew brews a potion with all kinds of things, including his own flesh and Potter’s blood, to help his master come back to life.
The actor also added that one of the best things that he admired about his role in the film was how Pettigrew was a balance of ‘evil’ and ‘vulnerable,’ all at the same time.
Timothy Spall's take on the new ‘Harry Potter’ ensemble for the upcoming seriesWhen asked about what he would like to say to the new cast line-up of the franchise, which is being turned into a series, the actor candidly said he had nothing. He further added, “I've never given any advice to actors. All actors have to make the part their own. And there is so much good writing, good characters, classic. You can do it as many different ways as you like.”
About the upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ seriesThe series is already underway in development, with the initial production beginning earlier this year in July. The planned release for the first season has been set for sometime in 2027. The first season will be on the first book, and respectively, the remaining 7 books will be covered by the showrunners slowly.
