TV host Sarah Greene has enjoyed a successful career, featuring on shows like Blue Peter, Going Live!, and, more recently, The Finish Line.

However, the beloved television personality has experienced personal tragedy with the loss of her husband, Mike Smith, 11 years ago. She and Top Of The Pops presenter Mike had been married for 25 years when the TV and radio presenter - affectionately known as Smitty - tragically died at the age of 59.

The star had undergone heart surgery and succumbed to complications in August 2014.

Months after his death, probate records revealed that former BBC Radio 1 DJ Mike had bequeathed his entire estate to Sarah, reports OK!Reports at the time indicated that there was £1,190,284 left in his will, which did not include any property or assets that he and TV star Sarah, 68, jointly owned.

Sarah and Mike began dating in the 80s and exchanged vows in 1989, a year after they were both injured in a helicopter crash.

The couple were en route to visit friends, with Mike piloting the helicopter, when they collided with trees near their intended landing site in Gloucestershire. Both sustained broken bones, and Sarah spent several weeks in the hospital, but they eventually recovered. Mike proposed in the aftermath of the accident.

Following Mike's death, Sarah found love again with ex-racing driver Robb Gravett, who was a friend of the couple.

The TV personality - who made her comeback to our screens in 2023 alongside Roman Kemp for BBC One quiz show The Finish Line - has previously suggested that her late husband played a role in orchestrating her new romance. During an appearance on the My Time Capsule podcast in 2022, she revealed, "I sort of know Mike is pulling so many strings in my life.

"He has undoubtedly been responsible for me meeting my beloved who was one of his oldest friends, who waited a certain amount of time but did keep leaving messages on the answering machine. I thought he was just being kind."

She described receiving what she termed "a message" encouraging her to take Robb's call. The message apparently told her: "For God's sake, Greeno, Robb is trying to make contact with you because he actually wants to take you out, not because he's kind. So will you just get off your arse and go and answer the phone next time it rings!"

Sarah and Roman are returning to our screens this week with The Festive Finish Line, featuring Christmas specials that will showcase various celebrities competing in the challenge.

The Finish Line airs on BBC One.
