Darts star Luke Humphries has treated himself over Christmas, splashing out on a stunning luxury item as he sets his sights on a semi-final spot in the World Darts Championship. Humphries is set to take on Gian van Veen in the quarter-finals on Thursday evening, but he's already scored off the dartboard with the purchase of a lavish Lamborghini worth £200,000.

This follows his previous acquisition of a plush mansion, a testament to his success in the sport. Humphries' rise to prominence saw him hold the World No. 1 spot for two years before being dethroned by Luke Littler. 'The Nuke' also snatched his World Championship title at Ally Pally a year ago.

Discussing his new ride, Humphries said: "It's a Christmas present to myself. I got it a few weeks ago. I was obviously thanking the company more, not showing off, because they really did get out to me as quickly as possible and really early."

"I think I've been very, very sensible in my life and have bought a really, really good house. Now in my favourite car, of course, I can afford to run it whether I win or not. I'm a very sensible person.

"Obviously it's a high performance car as well, but I'm not an idiot to go around and start being stupid and speeding and stuff. I have a life that I want to live. It's very luxurious. It's something that I can look back on now and say: You worked for that, you worked incredibly hard."

He continued: "So that's the most important thing and, of course, everyone has their own limits. When you earn this certain amount of money, you buy this car. When you're earning a lot of money, you can buy what you want. So for me, that was my thing to say: You've achieved a lot now, that's your little treat."

The 30-year-old even quipped that the vehicle's boot is spacious enough to accommodate The Sid Waddell Trophy, should he secure victory this year, alongside sufficient clothing for a tournament run to the final.

"That's the whole reason I got it," he added. "With the amount of stuff I had to bring down here, I'll find room. Don't worry. I've properly packed my car up. Brought my son enough toys to last him eight days. Enough clothes to last me eight days.

"You should be thinking that way. You're not going to be thinking, 'I packed four days and if I make it to the fifth day, it's like: Oh, I'll wear a second thing twice'".

Humphries also acquired a property towards the end of last year which he disclosed came with a hefty price tag. The champion pocketed the £500,000 prize money following his World Championship triumph in 2024, but revealed his preference for maintaining a cautious approach with his finances.

"When that money goes into your business account, you can't just withdraw 200 grand of it because you get taxed on it massively," he explained.

"For me, it's important to be sensible. What I have done is bought a new house, which cost a lot, a lot of money. Because of the guarantees that the half a million gave me, I was able to buy a house that was worth incredible amounts of money.

"That would probably be the biggest purchase. But obviously I didn't buy it straight away, it's taken me until now to guarantee that I can afford to pay for it."
