BNP's comeback: How did the situation turn after 20 years of exile?

The initial data of election results surprised everyone. By the time counting was completed on 249 seats out of total 299 seats, BNP and its allies had got 181 seats, while Jamaat and its allies were seen getting limited to only 61 seats.

This victory of BNP is also considered special because the party remained out of power for almost two decades. Tariq Rahman, party chairman and son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, now seems to be moving towards becoming the next Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
