Construction of “Seva Tirtha” cost ₹1,189 crore

The Prime Minister’s Office will now shift to the newly constructed complex “Seva Tirtha” under the Central Vista Redevelopment Project. Developed at an estimated cost of ₹1,189 crore, the complex is spread over an area of 226,203 sq.ft. The construction is done by leading infrastructure company Larsen & Toubro (L&T).

Three main buildings in this modern complex

Seva Tirtha-1: It will be the headquarters of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Seva Tirtha-2: It will house the Cabinet Secretariat, which shifted here in September.

Seva Tirtha-3: It will be the new residence of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the National Security Council Secretariat.

Full of modern comforts

Located near Vijay Chowk, this new office is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Although Cabinet meetings are usually held at the Prime Minister’s residence (7 Lok Kalyan Marg), a Cabinet Hall has been specially designed in the new ‘Seva Tirtha’ complex. A new Prime Minister’s residence is also being built near the complex, which is very close to Parliament House. A major objective of this entire shift is to ease the movement of the Prime Minister and reduce the traffic problems faced by the public during his travels.

North and South Blocks will be Museums

After the Prime Minister’s office is vacated, there is a grand plan to preserve the South Block and the adjoining North Block. These two historic buildings will be converted into a grand public museum named “Yug Yugin Bharat Museum”. So now Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office will have a new address.
