BBC drama Silent Witness might have exposed Harriet Maven's secret illness, and fans will be heartbroken.
The 29th season of the long-running drama is currently airing on BBC One, with Emilia Fox and David Caves reprising their roles as Dr Nikki Alexander and Jack Hodgson, alongside Maggie Steed and Fran Mills as Harriet and Kit Brooks.
Last week's pulled episode, The Enemy Within, aired on Tuesday (February 17), and saw the forensics team examine a deadly stabbing in Birmingham.
At first, the incident appeared to have been racially motivated, but as the investigation unfolded, the team slowly uncovered evidence pointing to a likely suspect.
As the team continued to find leads, racial tension soon began to rise across the city. At the same time, Jack realised that his new gym friends weren't who he thought they were, while Kit began to have doubts about her relationship with DC Jonno Magath (played by Gerard Kearns).
The second instalment in the story was broadcast on Wednesday (February 18), with the team finding flaws in the evidence against the prime suspect. This left DI Kayla Baran (Selin Hizli) furious that she was unable to charge anyone, shortly before she was brutally attacked.
Elsewhere, Jack met up with his new "friends" in the pub, where he was asked whether he could be trusted to share and uphold their patriotic values. The plot took a worrying turn as Jack and Nikki prepared to move into their new home at the end of the episode.
After meeting one of their new neighbours, Jack received a notification on his phone. He'd been sent an AI video of himself talking about the man who had murdered DI Baran's husband, Destan (Jonas Khan).
"He was attacked from behind by a Muslim asylum seeker who came over in one of the boats, and he defended himself," the fake Jack said in the video. "Since when was self-defence a crime? He's a patriot." Jack understandably appeared worried after watching the clip, just moments before the credits began rolling.
Fans quickly shared their concern for Jack on social media, with others also noticing "something off" with Harriet. The seasoned forensic pathologist has recently been seen getting lost on her way to work, sparking worries that she might face a dementia diagnosis in upcoming scenes.
"I feel a bit like Harriet may have dementia, I'm hoping she doesn't but her behaviour feels a bit like she could," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another added: "I'm hoping Harriet was just pretending to get information because it makes me kinda nervous someone in such an important role being so confused?" while a third said: "I'm worried about Harriet getting lost. Please don't say this is a dementia storyline."
Silent Witness is available to stream on BBC iPlayer
