The Chase star Mark "The Beast" Labbett walked off the set after failing to win the game by a mere one point. The quizzing expert faced four new contestants on the episode which aired on Wednesday, February 18. Paul, 39, a primary school teacher, Babs, a 58-year-old housewife, Joe, 24, a PhD student and Helen, a 61-year-old retired civil servant were all hoping to walk away with some money from the prize pot which stood at £17,000. In the final chase they managed to score 19, which Mark had to try and match.
It came incredibly close but with just one second on the clock and one question still needed he found himself simply blurting out "cheese" to quizmaster Bradley Walsh in the hopes it would be the right answer. Unfortunately for him it wasn't, and while the team celebrated their win he was left licking his wounds and walked off after telling them, "well played guys".
Commenting on the brainy star's abrupt exit Bradley observed: "Oh, the big bad boy of quizzing is off...he's bashing everything and he's lost his cool completely.
"Well, that's the way it goes. It's a very, very, very fine margin, folks, it really is," he said as he signed off the epsiode.
Viewers had a lot of thoughts about his reaction and took to X to share them. "Mark is a sore loser!" one wrote.
A second was more skeptical writing: "Most scripted beast walk-off ever. Absolutely done that for the gag."

A third couldn't believe what they had seen querying: "#TheChase Mark walked off?" A fourth sarcastically commented: "And Mark's done one already. Fantastic."
The Beast had a difficult final chase where he ended up giving the team four attempts to push back, three of which they got right.
In an embarrassing moment he was asked: "Which Hollywood actor has an identical twin called Sami Malek?" The Beast answered Remy Malek only for Bradley to inform him it was wrong.
However the team also answered Remi much to Bradley's amusement as the correct answer was Rami.
