Mathys Tel is heading to London to complete a shock transfer U-turn -

The forward is joining Spurs on loan, having last week rejected the opportunity to make a £50million permanent switch to the club. Bayern had accepted Spurs' approach, but Tel was keen to keep his options open.

However, now, Tel has changed his mind and is heading to Spurs. He will join on a loan deal ahead of the summer, when his future will be evaluated once more by Bayern - unless there is a late move by the three parties to incorporate a purchase option in the deal.

Tel's agent, Gadiri Camara, posted on social media a picture of himself on a private jet, which Tel is also aboard.

He posted an image on of himself on a plane with the caption: "May Allah bless you," accompanied with a sand timer emoji.

His decision to head to Spurs leave both United and Arsenal looking late in the day at alternate business.

But it's a pretty bleak deadline day situation if you are a fan, with club sources indicating they are not expecting any further is or outs at this stage.

Having sent Marcus Rashford and Antony out on loan to Aston Villa and Real Betis respectively, and signed Patrick Dorgu from Lecce and Ayden Heaven from Arsenal, United's work in the transfer window appears to be done.

That will be greeted with dismay by United fans, who are crying out for a new striker to solve their chronic lack of goals. United have scored just 28 goals in 24 games this season - only four clubs have scored fewer in the top flight.

But the United hierarchy, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe have no money to sign a striker on a permanent deal and have seen attempts to broker loan deals, for players like Tel, come to nothing.
