Terry Bradshaw has candidly differentiated himself from the likes of Tom Brady, describing himself as a television "personality that knows football" rather than a traditional broadcaster. The 76-year-old NFL icon and fixture on 'FOX NFL Sunday' is set to bring his expertise to the network's coverage of Super Bowl LIX this weekend, where the Kansas City Chiefs will be vying for their third consecutive championship against the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Meanwhile, New England Patriots legend Brady, aged 47, is joining FOX's Super Bowl lineup as a color commentator, working with lead play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt. Bradshaw, a Pittsburgh Steelers hero, will continue his role in FOX's pregame show.

During a FOX media event on Thursday, Bradshaw was queried about whether he misses being a color commentator, having previously served in that capacity with CBS before joining FOX's NFL team in 1994. "Yes," Bradshaw admitted, before clarifying his current position: "If you're gonna cover football, you wanna be a broadcaster. I'm not a broadcaster in the pregame show, I'm a personality that knows football."

He further elaborated on his approach to football coverage, contrasting it with Brady's new role: "I approach football from an entertainment standpoint as oppose to, if I was doing the game like Brady's doing, I would look at it totally different. I loved being in the booth, loved it, but I didn't want to be behind John Madden."

Brady embarked on his journey as a colour commentator earlier this season, thanks to his 10-year, $375 million contract with FOX. Madden, on the other hand, rose to prominence as arguably the finest colour commentator in football after hanging up his coaching boots in 1978.

He passed away in 2021 at the age of 85.

Bradshaw went on to say: "There's nothing in my DNA that says I need the money so bad that No. 2 is worth it, so I told CBS I wasn't coming back. They told me to sleep on it, and then April 1 - April 1! - I got a phone call. They had to let Brent Musburger go, (so they) called me and said, 'We're gonna rebuild The NFL Today around you.'

"I asked, 'What are you doing? You're gonna build it around me? ' And they said, 'No - we're going to have you Lesley Visser, Pat O'Brien...' That's why I went back, I was just gonna be a farmer (until the opportunity to join FOX emerged)."

Bradshaw is hailed as one of the greatest quarterbacks ever to grace the game, having clinched four Super Bowls with the Steelers. Brady, however, surpassed even that during his illustrious career with the Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, bagging seven championships.
