Recently, Kanwaljit Singh appeared in an interview with the YouTube channel Hindi Rush, where he opened up about his Chhapte Chhapte co-star Sarika.

Veteran actor Kanwaljit Singh is making headlines for his marvelous performance in the film Mrs. The movie, which was released on Zee5, features Sanya Malhotra in the lead role.

Recently, Kanwaljit Singh appeared in an interview with the YouTube channel Hindi Rush, where he opened up about his Chhapte Chhapte co-star Sarika. Initially, Singh was supposed to star opposite Sarika. However, she left the TV series midway, just after shooting the pilot episode.

Singh revealed that Sarika left the show after she fell in love with superstar Kamal Haasan and decided to marry him. Talking about the same, Kanwaljit said that Sarika’s sudden departure disrupted the show’s production. He said, “When I was doing the TV show Chhapte Chhapte, Sarika was starring with me. She fell in love with someone in Madras. So, she left the show midway while we were shooting. ‘Pilot banate banate humari stewardess toh bhag gayi.’”

However, with Sarika’s departure, the makers of the show roped in Anuradha Patel, who eventually became Kanwaljit’s wife. Anuradha replaced Sarika as the female lead on the show. “Then, now my wife, Anuradha Patel, starred opposite me. We got close and eventually got married,” he said.

Coming to Sarika, the actress married Kamal Haasan in 1988. Before marrying Sarika, Kamal was already married to Vani Ganapathy. Sarika and Kamal met on the sets of Raaj Tilak in 1984 and fell in love. He later decided to divorce Vani and married Sarika.

Initially, Sarika became a victim of backlash, with people calling her “the other woman.” Despite the criticism, the couple stood by each other and were blessed with two daughters, Shruti Haasan in 1986 and Akshara Haasan in 1991.

However, even Sarika and Kamal’s relationship did not last long, and they divorced in 2002.
