South Korea is set to modernise its immigration process with the introduction of the e-Arrival Card, which will officially launch on February 24, 2025. This digital system will replace the traditional paper-based arrival forms, streamlining entry procedures for international travelers. Designed to enhance efficiency at immigration checkpoints, the initiative also aims to provide greater convenience to visitors.
Most foreigners entering South Korea will need to have an e-Arrival Card. However, some travellers will be exempt, such as airline crew members, South Korean registered residents, and those with a valid Korea Electronic Travel Authorisation (K-ETA). Until the end of 2025, South Korean immigration officials will accept paper-based arrival forms to ensure a seamless transition. This will allow visitors to select between the two formats during this time of adjustment.
How to apply for South Korea's e-arrival cardTravelers must complete and submit the e-Arrival Card at least three days before their scheduled arrival in South Korea. Once issued, the card remains valid for 72 hours. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply:
Visit the official portal and navigate to the e-Arrival Card application section.
Agree to the Terms and Conditions. For travelers under 14 years old, a guardian must complete the application on their behalf.

Upload a scanned copy of the passport.
Enter essential travel details, including arrival and departure dates, purpose of visit, accommodation details, and contact information.
Submit the form online—there is no application fee. Unlike visa applications, the e-Arrival Card does not require approval and can be downloaded immediately after submission.
Key information for travellersThe fact that travellers no longer need to carry a physical copy or a PDF version of the e-Arrival Card is one of its main benefits. Families and group travellers will find the process more easy as a single declaration can include up to nine additional passengers. Before travelling to South Korea, tourists can update their information on the official website if any travel-related details change after submission.
