GATE 2025 Result: IIT Roorkee has released the GATE 2025 answer key. Objections can be registered on it till March 1, 2025. GATE 2025 results will be announced on 19 March 2025. This date is being told based on the official notification of IIT Roorkee (which is organizing GATE this year). GATE 2025 results will be available in online mode on the official website gate2025.iitr.ac.in. To check the result, you will need your enrollment ID or email ID and password. GATE Result 2025: How is the GATE result prepared?
(a) Raw Marks
The GATE paper is a total of 100 marks. It includes Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.
GATE 2025 Marking Scheme: Marking Scheme:
There is a negative marking for wrong answers in MCQ: 1/3 marks are deducted for a 1-mark question and 2/3 marks are deducted for a 2-mark question.
There is no negative marking in MSQ and NAT.
Raw marks are calculated based on your correct answers.
(b) Normalization Process
The GATE exam is conducted in multiple sessions. There may be a difference in the difficulty of the paper of different sessions. A normalization process is adopted to maintain fairness in the paper. Normalized marks in the GATE exam are calculated through a formula. This formula is based on the data of the last few years and the difficulty of the session.
(c) GATE Score
Raw marks are converted to a scale of 1000, which is called the GATE score. Its formula is something like this:

M= Actual marks of the candidate
Mq= Qualifying marks (usually between 25-30 for general category)
Mt= Average marks of top 0.1% of candidates

(e) Qualification based on cutoff
Cutoff marks are fixed for each paper and category. If your marks are more than the cutoff then you will be considered qualified for GATE. Then you can download the GATE scorecard.
GATE Cutoff: Category-wise cutoff for GATE
GATE cutoff is released for different papers and categories (General, OBC-NCL/EWS, SC/ST/PwD). These are the minimum marks required to qualify for GATE. The GATE 2025 cutoff has not been announced yet, but the estimated cutoff is given below based on the trends of previous years. The actual cutoff will come with the result on March 19, 2025.

Each paper (like ME, EE, CE, EC, etc.) has a different cutoff. For example, the cutoff for Mechanical Engineering (ME) usually ranges between 28-32 (General).
Result Download: After the result, the scorecard will be available for download by the end of March 2025. It is valid for 3 years.
Counseling: After qualifying for GATE, you will have to appear for COAP (for IITs) or CCMT (for NITs, IIITs) counselling.
