Martin Compston is best known for playing Inspector Steve Arnott in the series Line of Duty. The popular crime drama ended four years ago, and fans have been calling for the show to make a return, eager to see the cast together once again.
This month, rumours of a revival sparked when Martin presented a BRIT Award alongside his co-star Vicky McClure. Appearing on Lorraine's show this week, the Scottish host wasted no time in asking Martin if another Line of Duty series could be on the cards.
Lorraine said: "I know you two are great mates and it's lovely the fact that all of you from Line of Duty get on so, so well and keep in touch.

"But you know what everybody wants, they want you to get that waistcoat back on. Where's the waistcoat?! Is it still there? Shall it ever come out again?!"
Martin replied: "I mean, I hope so at some point. One of the great things about the success of that show is it's given us all a big career outside of it."
He told Lorraine he was recently with Jed Mercurio, who visited him while in Vegas. Martin explained that all of the Line of Duty cast members are busy at the moment, with Vicky currently filming the next series of ITV's Trigger Point.
The actor added: "I'm sure we'll get to it at some point. It's a sad day when people stop asking."
However, Martin has reunited with one of his former BBC co-stars for his new Prime Video show, Fear. The actor plays Martyn in the show alongside Anjli Mohindra, who takes on the role of his wife, Rebecca.
Meanwhile, Line of Duty's Anneika Rose plays Anne Dias, a close friend to Rebecca. The three-part thriller highlights how easy people's lives can be ruined by false accusations.
Speaking about the show, Martin confessed: "The bit that really scares me about it and resonates with me is, it feels like we live in a right now where somebody can accuse somebody of anything without any backup.
"Whether it be making up fake tweets or something, that just sticks and it's on you to prove your innocence. By the time you get to that, nobody really cares,. The accusation sticks, and that was something when I read it that really stuck with me."
Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 9am. Fear is available to watch on Prime Video.
