On Saturday, the Ministry of External Affairs said that the current year’s Kailash Manasarovar Yatra would take place from June to August.
The Ministry of External Affairs is planning to hold the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra from June to August in 2025. “This year, five batches, each with fifty Yatris, and ten batches, each with fifty Yatris, are scheduled to travel through Uttarakhand State crossing over at Lipulekh Pass and through Sikkim State crossing over at Nathu La Pass, respectively,” a foreign ministry announcement said.
“Since the entire process has been fully computerized since 2015, pilgrims can register at https://kmy.gov.in,” the ministry stated, inviting pilgrims to submit applications.
A fair, computer-generated, random, and gender-balanced selection procedure will be used, according to the statement.
The early resumption of cross-border cooperation and exchanges, including on trans-border rivers and Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra, was a major topic of discussion during the border agreement talks between Indian and Chinese officials. The yatra was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For adherents of Buddhism, Hinduism, Jains, and Bon, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a revered journey to see the sacred Mount Kailash and the neighboring Lake Mansarovar. It’s a spiritually significant journey that often involves a trek or a road trip and is regarded as a “tirth yatra” (holy journey) of the highest significance.
The Delhi, Sikkim, and Uttarakhand governments, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Indo Tibetan Border Police, and state organizations like the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam are all involved in organizing the yatra.
