The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will deliberate on setting standard procedures for IPL victory celebrations in its Apex Council meeting on June 14. The move comes in the wake of the tragic stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) post-title event at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which left 11 people dead and over 50 injured.
The stampede occurred on June 4 after thousands gathered outside the stadium for a fan event celebrating RCB’s maiden IPL title. Although access was intended to be regulated via passes, a much larger crowd showed up, overwhelming the venue’s capacity. The state government has since blamed both RCB and the BCCI for not seeking formal permission and for failing to ensure crowd control. RCB announced a ₹10 lakh compensation for each victim's family. The franchise’s marketing head was arrested for negligence.

Additionally, the board is set to review the Code of Conduct for players and team officials. The Council will also examine policies related to tournament allowances for BCCI employees and proposed amendments to the Age Verification Programme (AVP) testing rules.
Appointments of coaches for umpires and match referees will be considered. Approvals for tenders related to broadcast graphics for domestic matches and verification of player registration documents are also expected to be addressed in the meeting.
