Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on June 12, 2025, commended India’s young innovators for their groundbreaking contributions to the technological revolution that has transformed the nation over the past 11 years. In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister highlighted how the “Digital India” initiative has not only propelled India toward self-reliance but also established the country as a leading global technology powerhouse.
In response to MyGovIndia’s celebratory posts on the #11YearsOfDigitalIndia milestone, PM Modi wrote:
Driven by the energy and innovation of India’s youth, we are achieving significant strides in technological advancement, reinforcing our path toward self-reliance and establishing India as a global technology leader.
#11YearsOfDigitalIndia”
The Prime Minister emphasized the vital role technology has played in improving the lives of citizens across the nation. From streamlining governance to fostering entrepreneurial opportunities, the Digital India movement has deeply impacted service delivery, transparency, and social equity.
A Decade of Transformation
“Harnessing the power of technology has delivered countless benefits to the people. It has significantly improved service delivery, enhanced transparency, and become a vital tool for uplifting the lives of the poorest sections of society.
#11YearsOfDigitalIndia”
Launched in 2015, the Digital India mission was envisioned as a roadmap to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. Over the past 11 years, it has enabled the seamless integration of technology into every sphere of life—from rural development and education to fintech and e-governance.
PM Modi’s message underlined how the youth, empowered by access to tools, training, and opportunity, have become the driving force behind India’s digital and technological advancement. With thousands of startups, innovations in artificial intelligence, fintech, ed-tech, and health-tech, India has emerged as a hub for digital entrepreneurship.
Empowerment at the GrassrootsOne of the most noteworthy impacts of the initiative has been the outreach of digital services to rural and underprivileged communities. Common Service Centres (CSCs), Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) trinity, and initiatives like Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (DISHA) have brought millions into the digital fold.
Digital payments, Aadhaar-based benefits transfers, telemedicine, and online education have become everyday realities even in remote corners of the country—bridging the urban-rural divide.
Looking AheadAs India enters the next phase of its digital journey, PM Modi’s remarks serve as both a celebration and a call to action. The focus will remain on fostering indigenous innovation, supporting young technologists, and strengthening digital infrastructure to sustain inclusive growth.
Digital India, he reiterated, is not just about connectivity or convenience—it is about empowerment, dignity, and nation-building in the digital era.
