A total of 13 candidates applied for the Rajya Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu, out of which seven nominations, all by independent candidates, were rejected upon scrutiny. The lack of the required criteria was cited as the reason for the rejected candidatures.

On the work front, Kamal Haasan’s recent release Thug Lifehelmed by Mani Ratnam, received mixed to negative reviews upon release. The film also stars Trisha, Abhirami, Silambarasan TR, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, and Nasser in crucial roles.
