The story of 19 -year -old Shakib Saif, who lives in Bismil Nagar of Maharajganj, is shocking everyone’s heart today. After the results of the NEET exam on Friday, a lower score than the expected marks disappointed this promising student so much that he ended his life journey. Shakib committed suicide by hanging himself in his room, causing not only his family, but the entire community shocked. This incident is not only a personal tragedy, but also raises a serious question of increasing educational pressure and negligence towards mental health in the society.
Shakib Saif was preparing for the medical entrance examination (NEET) for the last two years while staying in Kota, Rajasthan. Kota, which is a hub for medical and engineering aspirants across the country, was a dream city for Shakib. He dreamed of becoming a doctor in a reputed institute like AIIMS. Her parents, both of whom are associated with the field of education, trusted their son’s hard work and dedication. Shakib was the eldest of his three siblings and the center of family expectations. But when the result of NEET came, his dreams got as the eclipse.
The result of NEET was declared at around 3 pm on Saturday afternoon. When Shakib saw his points, he broke. According to the family, he kept quiet for some time and then went to his room. In a few moments, the relatives found him hanging on the noose. He was hurriedly landed and rushed to KMC Hospital in Maharajganj. When the condition was critical, he was referred to Gorakhpur Medical College, but he died on the way. This news spread like wildfire, and reached the police via social media.
Shakib’s father Saifud Dose is a teacher in a local madrasa, while his mother is working as a teacher in a composite school in Chauparia. Both had left no stone unturned to study their son. Shakib’s departure is a shock for him, which can rarely compensate. The relatives took the body to his native village Chilbilwa, Gorakhpur, where the last rites were performed. Meanwhile, Maharajganj police, in collaboration with Gorakhpur police, brought the body to Maharajganj for postmortem.
Maharajganj Sadar Kotwal Satyendra Kumar Rai said that the preliminary investigation has revealed that Shakib has gone into depression due to low marks in NEET results. The police is investigating the matter in depth, and the post -mortem report will detect the exact cause of death. This incident has once again made the headlines of educational pressure and mental health.
Shakib’s story is the story of millions of students who are living under pressure from competitive examinations. Thousands of students reach every year in cities like Kota to prepare for examinations like NEET and JEE, but only a few people get success. Fear and social pressure of failure often push students towards depression. Experts believe that schools and coaching institutes should focus on the mental health of students along with studies. Parents and teachers should also interact openly with children, so that they can express their feelings.
