Saba Karim, a former BCCI selector, thinks KL Rahul is the right choice to step in for Virat Kohli at No. 4 in the Indian Test team. With Kohli recently announcing his retirement before the series against England, there’s been a lot of talk about how India will adjust their batting lineup. In a chat with NDTV, Karim mentioned that this change offers a big chance for Rahul.

Karim said, “Without Kohli, Rahul has an important role to play. I see him as someone who can handle the No. 4 spot. People have suggested different positions for him, but I believe he’s the best fit to take over from Kohli. He can help stabilize the innings if there’s an early setback, and then he can start building the score. He has the right technique and has done well in England.”

He also noted that Rahul’s experience over the last season and a half has brought him more maturity, making him ready for this responsibility. “It won’t be easy since the game has changed a lot, and strategies have shifted. For someone coming back after a long time, he’ll need strong support from the team to perform well in England. His background in domestic cricket, especially scoring lots of runs, will definitely help him.”

Karim added that Rahul’s experience in county cricket could be beneficial too. He believes that if Rahul stays focused, he and other players from Bangalore can really boost India’s chances in the upcoming matches.
