Incident Overview

(Reported By Praveen Vikram Singh)

A distressing event unfolded in Noida when a young woman’s makeup appointment turned disastrous. A resident of Ghaziabad had scheduled a session at a local beauty salon in Noida for an engagement ceremony, believing the salon's claims of using high-quality products. Trusting their reputation, she paid an advance of Rs 5 lakhs for the service.

The Makeup Mishap

After her makeup was completed, she attended the engagement. However, she soon noticed alarming red spots developing on her face, leaving her horrified and unable to face her reflection.

In a panic, she sought medical attention, where the doctor informed her that expired cream had been used during her makeup application. She recounted her experience at the Noida beauty salon to the doctor.

Legal Action and Compensation

When the salon refused to acknowledge their error, the woman took her case to the consumer commission. After a year of deliberation, the commission ruled in her favor, ordering the salon to pay her Rs 1 lakh in compensation, along with an additional fine of Rs 50,000. Following the commission's decision, the salon management has begun to comply with the ruling.

A Cautionary Tale

This alarming incident serves as a reminder for consumers to always verify the expiration dates of products used in beauty treatments. It is not uncommon for some beauticians to utilize expired items to avoid waste, which can lead to serious skin issues for clients. Therefore, it is crucial to select reputable and well-reviewed beauty parlors.
