Shubman Gill scored a century: A five-match series is being played between India and England. The second Test match of this series is underway at Edgbaston. India has established a strong grip in this match. India has scored runs in its second innings on the strength of Shubman Gill’s century. India has declared its innings at 427. England now has a target of 608 runs to win. So, if India wants to win, they will have to take 10 wickets of England.


In the first innings, Gill’s 269 runs helped England post 587 runs. In reply, England’s first innings ended at 407 runs by the third day. In India’s second innings, Indian captain Shubman Gill also scored a brilliant century. India’s lead has now crossed 600 runs.


In reply to India’s 587 runs, England scored 407 runs in the first innings. Jamie Smith top-scored for England with 184 runs. Harry Brook also played a knock of 158 runs. Mohammad Siraj and Akash Deep bowled brilliantly for Team India, taking 6 and 4 wickets respectively.


India have scored runs in the second innings. Shubman Gill has contributed a lot to this. He maintained his form and scored a century in the second innings. He scored 161, Yashasvi Jaiswal 28, KL Rahul 55, Karun Nair 26, Rishabh Pant 65, Nitesh Reddy 1, Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 69 and Washington Sundar on 12. The batsmen from India batted well and gave India a big lead. For England, Josh Tong and Shoaib Bashir took 2 wickets each, while Joe Root and Brydon Carse took 1 wicket each.


Shubman Gil’s brilliant century


Shubman Gill had scored a double century in the first innings of the second Test. He had scored 269 runs in 387 balls. Continuing the same form, he showed a brilliant batting example in the second innings as well. Gill completed his century in 129 balls. He scored 161 runs in 162 balls. He was dismissed by Shoaib Bashir. In this innings, Shubman Gill hit 13 fours and 8 sixes. India declared their innings on 427 runs. India now has a lead of 607 runs.
