New Delhi: ElevenLabs, the US-based AI audio company, has announced the launch of its India Data Residency service. The new offering is designed to help Indian businesses deploy voice-based AI services while following local data protection laws. The service is live from July 30, 2025.

This move comes as more Indian enterprises and developers adopt conversational AI tools for customer interaction, support, and automation. With growing concerns around user data privacy and compliance, especially for sectors like finance, e-commerce, and telecom, the push for local infrastructure has become a top priority.

Elevenlabs Voice AI data staying inside India

With the new data residency option, ElevenLabs will now host its AI voice models entirely within India. This means any data processed while generating or receiving AI-generated speech stays inside Indian borders. The company says this makes it easier for firms to comply with India’s data protection and privacy frameworks.

“India has rapidly become one of our largest and fastest-growing markets outside the U.S.,” said Siddharth Srinivasan, who leads GTM at ElevenLabs. “With India Data Residency, we’re deepening our commitment to the market by offering world-class voice quality tailored for India’s languages and accents, while ensuring data stays secure, compliant, and locally hosted.”

The new service is fully separated from ElevenLabs’ global systems. All data handling, storage, and model inference will happen on infrastructure located in India. This setup is part of the company’s broader enterprise security framework, which includes SOC 2, GDPR readiness, HIPAA-ready controls, and Zero Retention features.

Better performance for Indian users

Besides compliance, the service is expected to improve performance. Voice data won’t need to travel overseas, cutting latency for Indian users. This could be useful for real-time voice interfaces, call centers, and mobile apps that rely on responsive interactions.

The platform also includes access to ElevenLabs’ voice library, including Indian voices, allowing companies to create more natural-sounding multilingual voice agents. These can be used in customer service bots, educational tools, insurance queries, or any other voice-led workflows.

Key sectors expected to benefit

Sectors such as e-commerce, telecom, education, insurance, and banking are expected to be early adopters. Many of these already use voice bots to manage high-volume customer calls and FAQs. Having an India-based AI solution could help them scale without falling foul of regulations.

Srinivasan added, “It’s a foundational step to help Indian businesses build locally, scale globally, and engage customers in their language with trust and speed.”

ElevenLabs is already working with Indian platforms like Meesho, Apna, and 99acres in AI-driven voice workflows. The new India Data Residency setup may bring more local enterprises on board.
