An elderly couple from Delhi had to wait 18 years to get their dream home. The 80 and 73 -year -old couple bought a flat in Tronica City in Ghaziabad with their lifetime earnings in 2007, but the builder neither completed the project nor gave them possession of the house. After a long legal battle and court intervention, they have now got justice.

The couple booked 3 BHK flats for Rs 35 lakh. The intention was that he would spend life there after retirement. But year after year passed and the dream of flat remained only on paper.


Builder double cheat


In 2022, the builder found a new way. He proposed to the couple to buy the flat back (buyback), but the price kept 34 lakh rupees – ie less than the price of 2007. At that time the price of such flats in the market was almost double. The builder took the documents to him and gave some amount, the rest of the payment kept avoiding the payment. The couple were also threatened. Advocate Sumit Gehlot called it a double deception in the court.

Police fight to court


In 2023, the couple complained to the Delhi Police, but refused to register an FIR as a civil case. The couple knocked on the court, not giving up. Advocate Gehlot proved in the court that the builder’s intention was to cheat from the beginning. The court ordered the police to re -investigate.


Finally reached agreement


Due to strictness and pressure of the court, the builder had to bow down and proposed better payment to the couple. The couple were satisfied with the agreement and informed the court on 13 August 2025 that they were now withdrawing the demand for the FIR. After this legal battle 18 years long, justice not only gave relief to the couple, but has also raised hope for thousands of homebuyers who have been struggling for their homes for years.
