Randeep Hooda joined the celebrations at Andhericha Raja as part of the BT Blockbuster Bappas series. Dressed in a white linen kurta, he soaked in the divine energy of the festival. Speaking about his fondest Ganeshotsav memories, Randeep says, “Ganeshotsav has always been very special. For me, the fondest memories are of being part of the collective energy, where everyone comes together, irrespective of their background, to celebrate Bappa with devotion and happiness. That is what I like the most about the festival.”
Randeep believes that the festival is all about “keeping it simple.” He says, “I like to visit close friends who bring Bappa home, spending time in that spiritual environment, and just soaking in the positivity. I also enjoy attending the aarti whenever possible, as it has such a calming and uplifting effect.”
Ask him about his equation with Bappa, and he shares, “For me, Ganpati Bappa represents new beginnings and removing of obstacles. He’s like a guiding energy. Whenever I start something new, be it a film or a new phase in life, I always pray to Bappa. It’s more about faith and gratitude than asking for anything.”
The actor believes that “if you wish for something with a clean heart and pure intention, Bappa finds a way to make it happen”. He adds, “For me, it hasn’t been about material things, but about strength, clarity and the right opportunities. Looking back, I can say I’ve been blessed in many ways.”
About Andhericha Raja
Azad Nagar Sarvajanik Utsav Samiti, the organisers of Andhericha Raja, was founded in 1966. The Ganeshotsav soon became iconic, with the deity lovingly called ‘Navasala Pavnara Ganpati’ —the wish-fulfilling Bappa — after devotees’ prayers during a strike were answered. Unlike other mandals, the life-size idol here is immersed on Sankashti Chaturthi, five days after Anant Chaturdashi, in a grand procession through Andheri. Over the years, Andhericha Raja has become one of Mumbai’s most beloved Ganpatis, drawing lakhs of devotees every year.
BT Blockbuster Bappas is Bombay Times’ prestigious honour, celebrating Mumbai’s most iconic pandals. It is a tribute to the community spirit, artistry, and sustainable practices that define the soul of Ganeshotsav
