From the musical heart of Kerala to the stages of the UK, singer Sai Malavika Kavalam Sajeev, guided by mentorship and marked by radiant performances, is leaving her mark.

“I come from a family deeply rooted in music. My father, Kavalam Sajeev, is a musician and the founder and director of a music school and research centre. My mother, Maya B, is a veena artiste, and my brother, Sai Maheshwar , is also a musician. My first guru and constant inspiration has always been my father, who gently led me into the world of music.



Later, I had the privilege of learning under great teachers such as B Shashikumar sir, Dr Omanakutty teacher, and Abhradita Banerjee teacher, each of whom helped my musical path bloom even more beautifully,” she shares. In 2022, she moved to the UK to pursue her Master’s in Psychology, and that’s when “music became my constant companion in this journey”.








“Being a part of the Malayalam film Pacha , directed by my uncle Sreevallabhan, was a very special experience for me. When the film went on to be recognised at the World Film Festival in Cannes and the New York City IO Film Festival, I felt proud to have been a part of it. I was featured on TV shows like Red Carpet Show (2021), and Koottinoru Paattu (2024), and they were both memorable milestones in my musical journey,” she recalls. “I am currently working at NHS England Hospital, while also teaching and performing at a UKbased music institution under the guidance of Arathi Arun ma’am. Today, I walk two parallel paths — that of a performer and a teacher,” she elaborates. “.



Through my study of psychology, I have come to realise that music has a profound power to bring peace to the human mind and emotions. This understanding has inspired me to integrate music and psychology — to bring the healing and transformative touch of music into education, training, and counseling,” she concludes.
