India's fast bowler Mohammed Siraj is gearing up for an exciting new chapter in his cricket career. The 31-year-old has been appointed as the skipper of the Hyderabad team for the second phase of the Ranji Trophy, a decision announced on Wednesday. This will be Siraj's first time leading Hyderabad, stepping in to replace Rahul Singh. 

Currently, the team finds itself in a tough spot in Group D, sitting fourth with just one win and one draw from five matches. Their next challenge is against Mumbai on January 22, followed by a match against Chhattisgarh on January 29. Meanwhile, former captain Rahul will remain in the leadership circle as the vice-captain. 

The selection committee, which includes P Hari Mohan, NP Singh, Jyoti Shetty, Sheik Riyazuddin, and Akash Bhandari, has made this decision. This will also mark Siraj’s first Ranji match of the season, as he was occupied with the national team during the earlier matches.

Looking at Siraj’s track record, he has played 45 Tests, 48 ODIs, and 16 T20Is. His performance in first-class matches has been outstanding, with 309 wickets taken in 88 games at an average of 26.
